How to allow patrons to view their fines on the OPAC

If a library charges fines through Koha, it is possible to allow patrons to view fines they might owe or have previously paid on the OPAC.

Enable the functionality

Go to Koha administration > Global System Preferences and search for OPACFinesTabs.

This will bring up a system preference of the same name.

To display the tab where patrons can view the different fines and charges they have on their account, this system preference should be set to Allow patrons to access the charges tab on their account page on the OPAC.

To hide fine and charges information on the OPAC, this system preference should be set to Don't allow patrons to access the charges tab on their account page on the OPAC.

If this system preference is changed click Save all OPAC preferences.

Appearance on the OPAC

When the OPACFinesTab system preference is set to Allow and a patron logs in on the OPAC, under their account summary there will be a tab called your charges. Clicking on this tab will open a page where a table of the fines the patron currently owes will display.

In addition to the table showing the current fines, it is possible to show historic financial interactions on the patron account. Across the top of the Charges table, click Show all transactions.
This will open a new table, showing historic financial transactions on the patron account.

If the OPACFinesTab system preference is set to Don't display, then the your charges tab will not appear under the summary page of the patron account.
