How to add a note to the circulation and fines rules

It is possible to add descriptive notes to the different circulation and fines rules. These can be used for a variety of purposes such as tracking when and why changes were made.

Step 1 - Find the circulation and fines rules

Go to KOHA administration > Patrons and circulation > Circulation and fines rules.

This will bring you to a page with a table of circulation and fines rules for your system.

The fourth column across on this table will have the header Note, and this is where it is possible to insert a descriptive comment.

Step 2 - Adding a note

To add a note to an existing rule, identify the line the rule is defined on and click Edit under Actions at either end of the table. This will cause the line to highlight and the usually blank line at the bottom of the table to populate with information from the rule being edited.

Type the desired message into the free text note box and hit Save.

After the note has been saved it will appear in the Note column as the words View note. Hovering over this note will cause the specific note to pop up.
