It is possible to add multiple item records to a bibliographic record at once, rather than one at a time, provided the barcodes being added to the items are incremental, or increase by one digit each barcode. So if a barcode ends in 123, the next barcode should end in 124, the next 125 and so on.
Adding multiple item records may happen when the bibliographic record is initially being created or it may be that multiple items need to be added to an existing bibliographic record. If the items are being added when the bibliographic record has initially been created, the Add item form will appear automatically. If multiple items are being added to an already existing bibliographic record, navigate to the record the items are being added to and click Edit 🔻 > Edit items and you will be brought to a new page with the Add item form at the bottom.
Go to the Add item form and fill out the item information for the item records that will be created. In the p-Barcode field, scan or type in the barcode to be put on the first copy of the item. This should be the lowest numbered barcode as when this information is saved the final digit in it will increase by one, making the next barcode a single number higher.
At the bottom of the form there will be the option to Add multiple copies of the item. Click this and a box will appear to insert the total number of items to be added. So if there are five physical items to be added, the number 5 should be added to this box. Once this has been filled out, click Add.
At the top of the page there will be a table of item records for the bibliographic record, that will include the records just added in batch. The barcodes will have auto-incremented based on the initial barcode scanned into the Barcode field on the Add item form.
