How to add multiple items to a bibliographic record

How to add multiple items to a bibliographic record

It is possible to add multiple item records to a bibliographic record at once rather than one at a time provided the barcodes being added to the items are incremental, or increase by one digit each barcode. So if a barcode ends in 123, the next barcode should end in 124, the next 125 and so on.
Go to the search bar at the top of the home page and click Search catalog line. Make sure Search catalog is underlined in white as the search box can be used for different functions, depending on which option is selected.

Search for the bibliographic record you want to add the new item record to. Some options for this are to search for the title or the isbn or a barcode for an item record that already exists on the bibliographic record.

Click the arrow to the right hand side of the field and you will either be brought directly into the record you want to edit or to a list of titles that might match the search you completed.

If you are brought to a list of titles the screen will look something like this:

Click the title of the specific record you want to edit to be brought to the record details page.

Edit the record

Click the Edit button at the top of the record and a dropdown menu will open out. Click the Manage items option on the dropdown menu.

This will open a new page with details of the items already on the title record.

Fill out the Add Item form.

When filling in the p - Barcode field, make sure to use the lowest number barcode in the run and that the next barcodes on the roll increase by one each time.

In the example below, the barcode in the p - Barcode field ends "132". There are five physical copies that need to be added to the record, so the batch add process should add five barcodes with the following format:

430000000000132
430000000000133
430000000000134
430000000000135
430000000000136

Scroll to the bottom of the Add item form and click Add multiple copies of this item.

This will open an option to define the number of items to be added in batch.
Put the same number as the number of physical items to be added. In this case, there are five physical items to be added so the number five is added into the box. Once the number is added, click Add.
This will add the items to the record which will be viewable at the top of the Add item form.

The barcode column shows the barcodes have incremented successfully.
