It is possible to hide items on the OPAC so they will not appear in search results, instructions for which appear on our
Help Centre. However, it is also possible to allow patrons in identified patron categories to view these suppressed items once they are logged in on the OPAC.
Step 1 - Navigate to the OPACHiddenItemsException
Go to Koha administration > Global System Preferences and search for OPACHiddenItemsException
This will bring up a system preference of the same name:
Step 2 - Filling in the system preference
This system preference includes a box that needs to be filled with the category code for patron category that will be able to view usually suppressed items on the OPAC.
For more information on the patron category table, please view our
Help Centre.
The information to take from the patron category table is in the Code column. Identify the patron category that should be allowed the view usually suppressed items and note the code that represents that patron category. In this example, the code is GR.
Step 3 - Specific example
Once the patron category code to be allowed to view suppressed items has been found, it must be added to the box on the OPACHiddenItemsException system preference. Type or paste the patron category code into the box, with no other characters or spaces and click Save all OPAC preferences.
Allowing multiple patron category exceptions
When there is more than one patron category which should be allowed to view usually suppressed items, the different patron category codes should be separates by a straight line, this symbol, "|".
Once the new patron category code has been entered, click Save all OPAC preferences.
