Restore Deleted Item Records Plugin

Restore Deleted Item Records Plugin

This document outlines how to install and use a plugin which allows deleted item records to be restored based on the date(s) that they were deleted.

Step 1 - Download the Plugin

Go to https://inlibro.com/en/koha-plugins/undeleterecords-instructions/ and download the plugin.

Step 2 - Upload the Plugin to Koha

Go to Koha administration > Plugins > Manage plugins.

If plugins have been enabled on your system there will be the option to upload plugins.

If plugins have not been enabled on your system please contact Interleaf Technology.

Once you have clicked Upload plugin you will be taken to a new page where you will be prompted to choose a file to upload.

Upload the plugin file downloaded earlier.

Once this has been successfully uploaded the Undelete Records plugin will appear. Go to the Actions column and click Actions > Run tool beside the Undelete Records plugin. This will bring you to a new page to identify the record(s) to be restored.

Step 3 - Identifying the Record(s) to be Restored

A box containing date fields will appear on the Run tool page.

The plugin uses the date fields to determine the time period to search for deleted records. To set a date, click into the first date field box. This will cause a calendar widget to drop out and the desired date can be selected from there.

Do the same in the second date box and once the dates to search have been defined click Calculate.

Please Note: If a large number of records were deleted during the selected time period the reporting and deleting process may become resource intensive and slow the site. To avoid this, if there is a good chance that a significant number of records will be returned for the defined date range, split the job up into multiple, smaller date ranges.

If there were any item records deleted between the defined dates then a new table of the deleted records will appear at the top of the page in yellow. If no records have been deleted in the date range selected, the page will not change.

Step 4 - Restoring Selected Records

There will be a small checkbox in the Item Number column. Click inside this checkbox so a tick appears for any record that should be restored. If a record is not ticked, it will not be restored to the site.

Once the records to be restored have been selected, click Confirm.

A confirmation page will appear once the records have been restored.

Records deleted on a specific date

To search for a record deleted on a single specific date, input the same date in both date boxes.

This will cause items that were deleted on that day only to appear.

If a bibliographic record with no items on it has been deleted then it will not appear in the plugin report results as this plugin only allows item records to be restored. However if the bibliographic record the item was on was deleted as well, then both the bibliographic and the item record that was attached to it will be restored.
