RFID Blade/Wand Setup and Operation


1. Plug in the on the TP-Link wireless router within the area you will be doing the inventory, the router does not need network access, it is used to created a private network between the RFID wand and tablet.



2. Power on the Blade/Wand:



































The Wifi light shown above (white) will flash for about 10-15 seconds and then disappear, this indicated that it has connected to the TPLink router, if it continues to flash check the TPLink router is power on and within range.

3. Power on the tablet by pressing and holding the power button on the top right for a few seconds until the Asus logo appears:



The tablet should auto login however if it looks for a password for the RFID user it is "envisionware"

The tablet should also auto connect to the TPLink router, you can check this by clicking on the Wifi icon and it should show this:


4. Open the Inventory Manager on the desktop:



5. Press the Play symbol and select "Override" if starting a new Inventory or "Append" if continuing and existing Inventory.




















If you get a warning select Overwrite or append.

The wand is now ready for use.

6. Use the Blade/Wand and start scanning items, the scan icon will flash blue to indicate it has found an RFID tag:



7. The Inventory Manager will start listing the RFID tag item barcode in the "Most Recent Items Read":


8. When you have finished press the Stop button:


9. Then click in the "Capture File Name:", copy the entire file location:



10. Open File Explore and paste in the file location and press enter:



11. The read RFID item list will open in a text file:



12. You can then connect the tablet to your library Wifi to give internet access and allow you to email this file to the relevant people.

13. The charging time for the Blade/Wand lithium battery is 3.5 - 4 hours.

N.B. The Lithium battery will completely discharge and no longer charge if left uncharged for a long period, it is recommended that the battery is charged at least one a month.
