How to allow certain patron categories to view suppressed items

This document will outline how to allow specified patron categories to view normally suppressed items on the OPAC when the patron is logged in.

For more details about suppressing items on the OPAC, please check our
Help Centre.
OpacHiddenItemsExceptions
Go to Koha administration > Global System Preferences and search for OPACHiddenItemsExceptions.
This will bring up a system preference of the same name.
This system preference will include a freetext box where the codes for the patron categories to be allowed to see suppressed items can be entered.

For more information on patron categories and the codes, please check our
Help Centre.
Once the codes for the patron categories to be allowed to view suppressed items have been found, add the code(s) to the freetext box. If there are more than one code to be entered, separate each code with a pipe e.g: code1|code2
Click Save all OPAC preferences.
This will mean all patrons in the defined patron categories will be able to view the suppressed records when they are logged in. Patrons in different patron categories will not be able to view the suppressed records even when they are logged in.
On the OPAC
When a patron in the defined patron categories logs into the OPAC, they will be able to view item information for records that are hidden for patrons not in the categories defined in the OPACHiddenItemsExceptions system preference.
After login:

Please note, there are options for hiding bibliographic records which have all item records suppressed and this may result in different displays than the examples in this document. For more information, please check our
Help Centre.
